Sleep-over

By: Rowan McAuley

Go Girl Series

Olivia gets up bright and early to get everything ready for her first sleep-over. She is so excited to be spending the night at her best friend’s house. The thing is she has gotten ready so early that is has already thought of a hundred things that could go wrong. All that get pushed aside in the excitement of the sleepover, until things actually do go wrong. Will Olivia manage to have a good time or will she never want to go on another sleepover?

The story is easy to understand. The language great for younger readers. It is a light hearted look at one of those rites of passage – the sleep-over. It also manages to explore different types of families and overcoming a little fear. The other thing it does is celebrates friendship. This is a good book for girls about 8-9 that may be reluctant readers, it is a fairly short book, who like to read about modern sort of topics and situations.
