Happy Birthday in Dragon Wood

By: Timothy Knapman

Illustrated By: Gwen Millward

Dragon has to play football but he needs a friend, lucky he has the Benjamin to help him out. Benjamin tells Dragon and his teammates all about the sport and how to play it but he can’t stay for the match because he has to get back for something called a birthday party. All that talk of cakes, ice cream and blowing out candles doesn’t sound like fun to Dragon…but maybe things won’t be so bad.

Friendship, football and birthdays feature prominently in this picture book. The story is interesting and fun. The illustrations are cute and somehow bring a smile to your face. If you are looking for a soccer or dragon book then this one will fit your needs.

The Great Easter Egg Scramble

By: Timothy Knapman

Illustrated By: David Walker

It’s Easter Bunny’s birthday and he is throwing a party. Just when he thinks he has got everything organised he finds a basket of eggs he hasn’t delivered. He must get the eggs to their rightful owners quickly because the eggs are about to hatch. He even has a rhyme that helps him remember which eggs to deliver where. This is only good as long as he remembers it in the right order, so what happens when he rushes and gets it all mixed up.

The simple text makes for a fun story of mix-ups that younger children are likely to enjoy. The simple illustrations are easily recognisable with plenty of colour to draw the eye. A story for easter with a little twist.
