Bug and Bear

By: Ann Bonwill

Illustrated By: Layn Marlow

Bear is grumpy and tired, she just wants a nap, but her best friend Bug really wants to play. Every time Bear tries to get to her bed Bug thinks she is trying to play a new game. Then when Bear finally gets to her bed and lies down she discovers something is wrong.

This is a cute story of friendship and how it doesn’t always run smoothly. There is quite a bit of text making it suitable for kindy and pre-primary readers. The illustrations are stylised and simple, using muted colours they are appealing. Its subtitle is ‘A Story of True Friendship’, is apt as it portrays a moment when friends want different things, something children all need to learn to deal with.
