The Jewel Fish of Karnak

By: Graeme Base

Ibis and Jackal are not very good thieves. They get caught and are taken before the Cat Pharaoh, who shows them mercy and makes a deal with them. She will pardon them if they can steal the Jewel Fish of Karnak and return it to her – the rightful owner. Their task comes with two warnings but Ibis and Jackal think they know better and it all goes horribly wrong.

Yet another incredibly amazing book from the wonderful mind and hands of Graeme Base. The story is engaging and even has a message or two about honesty and mercy. The illustrations as always are stunning, vividly detailed. Be warned you may find yourself sitting for a while trying to work out the puzzle at the back of the book. This is the sort of book you are happy to pick up and re-read.
