Illustrated By: Mark Jackson

The penguins are coming to the zoo and all the other animals are excited. Then a squirrel asks ‘Ummm…What’s a penguin?’ This starts a flood of information about penguins from all the other animals. you may have thought zoo animals would know about penguins but it turns out that there are a lot of very silly ideas at the zoo. Fortunately the zoo keeper knows a thing or two and he puts the other animals straight. Find out just how much you know about penguins before they arrive.

This is a wonderfully funny picture book that actually contains information about penguins. Of course the misinformation provided by the other animals will possibly make you laugh, that may just be me though, or at least have you shaking your head and smiling. The text is simple, enjoyable and is accompanied by illustrations both appealing and naturalistic for the zoo scenes and highlighted with a bit of silly fun in the penguin scenes.

This book has also been shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Book of the Year Awards for Young Children.
