Jackass wants to know what Monkey is doing. Monkey is reading. Digitally savvy Jackass doesn’t really understand what that means, and tries to find out it a book can text, tweet or wifi. He doesn’t see how you can scroll the text, or blog with it or even where it’s mouse is hiding. Monkey finally hands the book over to him so he can get a good look at it. Will Jackass ever really understand what is so good about a book?
This book is a real laugh if you know anything about digital technology. It is a favourite of mine though I’m not sure younger readers will enjoy it as much as older ones. The illustrations are quite simple, clear and surprisingly expressive, you have know trouble seeing Monkey’s frustration at Jackass’s questions and lack of understanding. On a side note I have known high school teachers to buy it for kids who are having trouble reading. It is very relevant with all the technology kids are surrounded by these days. A very funny book.
