Wilbur’s mum reads him the tale of the magical Golden Snail banished to the ends of the earth by the Grand Enchanter. She reads it a lot, it is his favourite story and Wilbur is determined to be the next Grand Enchanter. He wants to sail the Golden Snail across the oceans for a hundred years. So he begins his quest to find the Golden Snail. Along the way he encounters unusual creatures and unexpected challenges. When he finally reaches his destination he finds things aren’t quite how he thought they would be.
This is a fun adventure story with with themes of being nice to those you meet and being true to yourself. As always Graeme’s illustrations are detailed and masterful.
I love this book and it is a regular selection for story-time.
